Printing in Austin

DTF printing creates bright, detailed transfers for custom shirts, performance apparel, hoodies, bags, headwear, and other compatible products. Satellite PrintLab helps match the artwork, garment, placement, and production plan to the project.

Detailed Color Without Cut Vinyl

Versatile Printing for Modern Apparel

Direct to Film uses printed ink, white ink, adhesive, and heat to apply detailed artwork to compatible products. It is especially useful when a design contains several colors, fine detail, gradients, or placements that are difficult to produce with other decoration methods.

We use DTF for businesses, restaurants, events, teams, merchandise brands, and organizations that need consistent full-color decoration across varied garments and quantities.

DTF Printing Questions

Before You Request a Quote

These answers cover the information most customers need when planning a custom Direct to Film printing order.

What is Direct to Film printing?

DTF is a transfer process in which artwork is printed with color and white ink onto film, coated with adhesive, cured, and then applied to a compatible product using heat and pressure.

What fabrics can DTF be applied to?

DTF can work on many compatible cotton, polyester, blended, and performance garments. The exact product, coating, heat tolerance, seams, and construction must be reviewed before production.

Is DTF the same as vinyl?

No. DTF uses printed ink and adhesive on transfer film. It is not made by cutting individual shapes and colors from heat-transfer vinyl.

Is DTF good for full-color designs?

Yes. DTF is often useful for artwork containing multiple colors, gradients, detailed imagery, or a white underbase for dark garments.

What artwork should I send?

Vector files are preferred when available. High-resolution transparent PNG and print-ready PDF files are also helpful. Include the desired finished size, placement, garment, quantity, and deadline.

Is there a minimum quantity or standard turnaround time?

Quantity requirements and timing depend on the product, artwork, transfer size, number of placements, current production schedule, and project needs. Include your estimated quantity and required date in the quote request.
