Top 10 Questions
Before You Place an Order
Every custom project is a little different, but these are the questions that come up most often. If your project has unusual garments, specialty decoration, a tight deadline, or something you do not see here, send us the details and we will help you figure out the best production route.
What is the minimum order for custom printing or embroidery?
Our standard minimum is 24 pieces of the same design. You can usually mix garment sizes within the order. Product availability, garment colors, decoration method, and placement can affect how an order is structured, so include your quantity and size breakdown when requesting a quote.
How much does custom T-shirt printing or embroidery cost?
Pricing depends on the garment, quantity, decoration method, artwork, number of print or embroidery locations, size of the decoration, and any specialty finishing. Larger quantities generally improve the per-piece price. Send us your artwork, product choice or product type, quantity, sizes, and deadline and we will prepare an accurate quote.
How long does a custom apparel order take?
Turnaround depends on the product, quantity, artwork readiness, decoration method, supplier inventory, and our current production schedule. Production timing begins after the project details are complete and the artwork or proof is approved. If you have an event date or hard deadline, include it with your quote request so we can confirm availability before production begins.
What artwork file should I send for printing or embroidery?
Vector artwork such as AI, EPS, or vector PDF is preferred when available. High-resolution PNG and PDF files can also work well for many projects. For printed artwork, transparent-background files are helpful. For embroidery, your artwork must be converted into a machine-readable stitch file through digitizing. If you are unsure whether your file is usable, send us what you have and we will review it.
What is the difference between DTF, DTG, and embroidery?
DTF uses a full-color transfer applied to the garment and works well across many apparel types and detailed graphics. DTG prints ink directly into compatible garments and is especially useful for detailed artwork on suitable cotton-rich products. Embroidery uses thread to create a dimensional, durable finish that works especially well on hats, polos, jackets, workwear, bags, and premium branded apparel. We can recommend the best method for your product and artwork.
Can Satellite PrintLab help me choose the right shirt, hat, or garment?
Yes. Our catalog focuses on products we trust for quality, consistency, comfort, popularity, and decoration performance, but we can source many more items than what is shown online. Tell us how the product will be used, the look and feel you want, your budget, and your quantity, and we can recommend options.
Will I see a proof or mockup before my order is produced?
Yes. Artwork, placement, sizing, and production details are reviewed before the full order moves into production. Depending on the project, this may include a digital proof, mockup, or embroidery approval. Review proofs carefully because production follows the approved artwork and specifications.
What is embroidery digitizing and why is it needed?
Embroidery machines do not stitch directly from a normal JPG, PNG, or logo file. Digitizing converts your artwork into a stitch file that controls stitch type, direction, density, underlay, sequence, and other production details. Good digitizing is important to how cleanly a logo sews and how well it holds its shape on the selected garment or hat.
How durable are custom prints and embroidery, and how should I wash them?
Properly produced DTF, DTG, and embroidery are designed for regular wear. For best results, follow the garment care label, wash decorated apparel inside out in cool or warm water, avoid harsh bleach, and use lower dryer temperatures when possible. Do not iron directly over a printed decoration. Embroidered garments should also be washed according to the garment manufacturer's care instructions.
Can you handle rush orders or orders for a specific event date?
Sometimes. Rush availability depends on garment inventory, artwork readiness, quantity, decoration method, and the production schedule at the time you order. The earlier you send the project, the more options we have. Always include your required in-hand date when requesting a quote so we can tell you what is realistic before you commit.
